Billie-Jude Thorpe

Hello

I’m Billie (she/her), an integrative counsellor based in the South West of England. I work with people face-to-face and online, with Internal Family Systems (IFS) as my main therapeutic model. I believe that within every individual is an innate presence and source of wisdom. With over ten year’s experience, I trust that every individual can find the self- knowledge and self- acceptance needed to restore a compassionate, balanced perspective to their lives.

I bring to this work a deep respect for the complexity and resilience of each person’s system. My sessions are warm, grounded and collaborative - with space for curiosity, depth, humour and patience.

Deep Brain Reorienting

I come from an arts background and grew up in a family system marked by intergenerational secrets, addictions and loss. As a child, I often found myself wondering, “What do adults actually mean?” and “Where are they?”—questions that would eventually shape my path into counselling and psychotherapy.

In the early 2000s, I entered personal therapy, which led me to train as an Integrative Psychotherapeutic Counsellor. I began seeing clients in 2014 at the feminist organisation SARSAS, supporting survivors of sexual violence. Since then, I have worked with individuals facing addiction and substance use, as well as with a diverse client base through a social justice-oriented organisation in Bristol, where I developed a deep appreciation for group process and supervision.

My therapeutic approach is strongly informed by Internal Family Systems (IFS), a model that has had a profound and optimistic impact on both my personal and professional life. I am currently working toward certification with the IFS Institute and am also Level 2 trained in IFIO (Intimacy From the Inside Out), which supports couples and dyads in relational healing.

Recently I have undertaken training in Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR), a powerful trauma therapy that works with mid brain architecture to heal implicit trauma memory.

I am particularly interested in how individualism and capitalism disrupt our sense of belonging to ourselves, others and our communities, and how cultural and legacy burdens can energetically impact our internal system, the psyche and our body. My work is grounded in the belief that we all carry an innate capacity for healing and presence when given the space to reconnect with ourselves.

I welcome all adults and I offer an inclusive service whilst continuing to learn through an intersectional lens. I am LGBTQI affirming - all are welcome. Whatever you bring into our work together, we will collaborate to make sense of your questions in an environment of safety and respect; to find pathways towards healing and connection.
